1. Level setting

The DELF test is divided into four levels: A1, A2, B1 and B2, which correspond to the A1, A2, B1 and B2 levels of the Common European Framework for Reference for Languages (CEFR).

2. Content and form of the examination

Test content: Each level of the test includes four parts: listening comprehension, oral expression, reading comprehension and written expression. It comprehensively evaluates candidates' ability to communicate in French in daily life situations.

Test form: The test is in the form of paper and pen. Oral part is a required content, and candidates need to communicate face to face with the examiner.

3. Scoring criteria

The test is graded on a percentage basis, with four parts each worth 25 points. Each part must score at least 5 points, otherwise the result will be invalid. A total score of 50 points or above is passing and a certificate will be awarded.

4. Examination time arrangement

The DELF exam is typically held four times a year, in March, June, September, and December. For example, in 2025, the March exam began registration on January 3, and the June exam began registration on April 15. The specific duration of the exams varies by level: A1 is 1 hour and 20 minutes, A2 is 1 hour and 40 minutes, B1 is 1 hour and 45 minutes, and B2 is 2 hours and 30 minutes.
